
The mission of the State of the Coast conference is to provide a forum to learn from recent advances in science and engineering as they relate to coastal Louisiana, to ensure that relevant and current knowledge is applied to existing and future coastal restoration and protection efforts, and to use that information to effectively inform policy and decision making.

State of the Coast 2012 is hosted by the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL), a non-profit advocacy organization whose mission is the protection and restoration of a sustainable coastal Louisiana, and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana (CPRA), the single state entity charged with the development and implementation of a comprehensive coastal protection plan, including both the Master Plan and annual plans.
