2010 State of the Coast Conference

State of the Coast 2010 brought together policy-makers, scientists, industry leaders, community organizations and concerned citizens for an unprecedented forum to discuss the issues of coastal land loss, restoration and the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Held June 8-10, 2010 at the Baton Rouge River Center, State of the Coast 2010 featured 678 registered attendees with 26 sponsors and 43 exhibitors, all with an interest in coastal protection and restoration activities in Louisiana.

The three-day conference included:

• 66 oral presentations by leading experts in three concurrent sessions

• 21 session moderators

• 105 poster presentations

• Four panel plenary sessions

• Four keynote addresses

This first State of the Coast conference was highly successful both in diversity of those who attended and in quality and variety of topics presented. Of attendees who responded to post-conference surveys, 87% rated the conference either “above-average” or “outstanding.”

We expect State of the Coast 2012 to be even more successful, with a larger venue in New Orleans and a large contingent of attendees who had prior positive experience in 2010.
