SCHOLARSHIPS

Students presenting at the SOC2021 conference are eligible to have their registration waived, thanks to a sponsorship from Louisiana Sea Grant.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

A select number of students will have the opportunity to earn a SOC2021 registration fee waiver in exchange for up to 4 hours of volunteer service, thanks to a sponsorship from Louisiana Sea Grant.

• Volunteer tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • View sessions as an attendee and report issues to designated person

  • Post social media regarding the conference

  • Watch prerecorded videos

  • Visit exhibitors

  • Visit poster sessions

  • Visit roundtable discussions

IGNITE

ZONE

SOC2021 will feature an Ignite Zone that seeks to integrate the needs of students as they prepare to transition to the workforce with those of potential employers and early career professionals (with zero to 5 years of experience).  In the virtual format, Louisiana Sea Grant will provide career panels with leading industry professionals, a résumé review and advice, a presentation on available student opportunities and fellowships, and a listing of current coastal job openings in the region.

AWARDS

A student competition will be offered to undergraduates and graduate students presenting posters at the conference. Louisiana Sea Grant will manage the judging of student presentations. Cash prizes will be awarded by Fugro to the following:

• Top 2 oral presentations

• Top 3 poster presentations
